Overview

Depending on the interest of candidates, one specialization with the greatest interest will be opened. Students will have the opportunity to profile their study path through participation in Project Based Learning.

Specialization I – Integrated Manufacturing Systems

In response to the labour market growing demand for professionals from a range of
organisational and technical preparation of production, the Institute of Engineering Processes
Automation and Integrated Manufacturing Systems provides the Integrated Manufacturing Systems specialization in the Automation and Robotics field of study. This specialization offers:
- modern laboratories equipped with: PLCs from Siemens and B&R and industrial robots from FANUC,
- extensive teaching facilities,
- access to specialised hardware and software,
- highly specialised academic staff with theoretical and practical experience,
- possibility of develop.
Integrated Manufacturing Systems under patronage of BALLUFF company.

Specialization II – Mechatronic Systems Engineering

This specialization allows gaining knowledge and skills in designing, constructing and manufacturing of mechatronic systems. The emphasis is placed on issues related to the design and implementation of mechatronic systems, programming and engineering simulations. The course is interdisciplinary and its graduates receive profound knowledge in the field of mechanics, computer science and electronics. Students can also improve their skills within the framework of student scientific societies under auspices of the Department of Computational Mechanics and Engineering.
The course is conducted in a cooperation with the IBS POLAND Ltd.

Specialization III – Welding technologies and surface engineering in manufacturing

Welding Technologies are considered basic techniques of manufacturing and repairs of various machine parts In addition to traditional bonding and cutting of metals, welding technologies also include methods for depositing coatings and modifying the surface layer. Welding technologies and surface engineering in manufacturing is a modern course offering comprehensive students education in the field of traditional engineering knowledge and state-of-the-art scientific achievements in the field of materials.

Specialization I – Integrated Manufacturing Systems

Subjects of the specialization:
- Design of technological processes,
- Control, measurement and diagnostic systems,
- Microprocessor-based control systems,
- Robotisation of technological processes and robots programming,
- PLC programming,
- Distributed control systems and real-time operating systems,
- Design and modelling of flexible manufacturing systems,
- Production planning and control in automated systems,
- Acquisition and management of production data,
- Computer integrated manufacturing.

Specialization II – Mechatronic Systems Engineering

Choosing this specialization, you will study, among other things, issues from following fields: systems theory and engineering, computational intelligence, programming for industry, numerical computational methods, implementation of mechatronic systems, mechatronic product development methods, product life cycle management, simulation and decision-making methods and other system analysis methods. Additionally, the patron of the course offers certified courses of products from the Dassault Systems portfolio with training materials. IBS Poland Ltd. supports the Student Scientific Societies and student conferences. The company also offers internships with the possibility of subsequent employment for the best students, participation in industry conferences, student licenses of full versions of the 3DExperience platform and real contacts with IBS Poland partners from the automotive, aerospace and other industries.

- Computer assistance in materials engineering,
- Advanced engineering materials,
- Gradient and multiphase coatings,
- Metallic, ceramic, polymeric and composite materials,
- Laser surface treatment,
- Renewable energy sources,
- Automation and robotics of materials processing technologies,
- Plastic and thermo-mechanical forming technologies for metal alloys,
- Advanced methods of computer assistance in production,
- Semester project,
- Master of Engineering diploma practice – 4 weeks long.

Career opportunities

Specialization I – Integrated Manufacturing Systems

Graduates combine knowledge of organizational (planning) and technical (CAx methods, ie. CAD,
CAE, CAM, CAPP) pre-production, and modern methods of manufacturing and computer
integration, particularly in:
- design and manufacturing technology,
- production control and planning,
- management and cooperation between enterprises,
with knowledge in the areas of:
- design and operation of automated manufacturing systems,
- programming of technological equipment (robots, numerically controlled technological machines, PLC controllers, microprocessor – based systems),
- applications of artificial intelligence.

Specialization II – Mechatronic Systems Engineering

Due to the acquired practical skills and an excellent theoretical background, the graduates can easily find employment in the following sectors: the automotive, aerospace or machinery companies, consumer goods businesses, design offices, research and development institutions, companies involved in the implementation of CAD/CAM/CAx/PLM systems and the research and development facilities of medium and small enterprises. As specialists in simulation design and implementation of mechatronic systems, as well as in programming skills and application of artificial intelligence techniques in industrial mechatronics, you will work in teams of experienced professionals from leading technology and R&D companies.

Specialization III – Welding technologies and surface engineering in manufacturing

Wide use of welding technologies in the manufacture of modern machines and construction employed in many industries, has always been a driving force in the progress of social and economic development. Graduates of the Welding technologies and surface engineering in manufacturing receives full education in technical sciences necessary to work in welding technology with emphasis to surface modification. Student will acquire knowledge concerning the construction and operation of the devices and their industrial applications. They will have theoretical knowledge in the field of interaction of welding processes with the matter and thus, be able to select the right control parameters of specific application of different type of processing method.
